Over the last few years, drones have become an indispensable tool at JYM Partnership. Making use of this technology allows us to improve our service offering and reduce safety risks.
Traditional building surveys can be time-consuming and resource intensive. They can require extensive equipment, scaffolding, and even multiple surveyors. In contrast, drones can cover large areas swiftly and accurately. This speed doesn’t just save time; it reduces costs and allows our surveyors to be more efficient.
Surveying large, inaccessible, or hazardous structures can pose significant safety risks. By using drones, JYM’s surveyors can obtain detailed imagery and data from these areas without ever leaving the ground. This minimises the need for potentially dangerous manual inspections and keeps JYM surveyors safe while still gathering critical information.
Drones are ideal for inspecting hard-to-reach areas, like roofs, gutters, or tall façades. The ability to access remote areas quickly and safely means JYM’s surveyors can identify issues that might be missed using traditional methods and provide Clients with quick and effective advice on how to prevent or stop building fabric problems.
Below are a few Aerial Survey pictures taken using our drone by our Chartered Building Surveyors whilst out on inspections. A picture can speak a thousand words and clearly shows where roof works are required while the Surveyor keeps both feet firmly on the ground.

Protection and propping works well underway to help our Client re-open school areas below #RAAC roof panels. Not very easy to prop with this many services in the way! With expert assistance from Reid Jones Partnership Ltd and Wade Group.

JYM have continued to support Amey plc and their team of Consultants, including Humphrey M&E, on many exciting projects and programmes. Instructions have ranged from reactive defect diagnosis and pathology, to £2m+ major investment and expansion programmes. Over the last 12 months we’ve provided our full range of services including Building Surveying, Architectural, Quantity Surveying and Project Management, on projects at Secure Establishments from the Scottish Borders down to the West Midlands and South Wales. We thank Amey Plc for their continued support and look forward to more challenges in 2023.
